ISAIAH – How to Understand

2 Nephi 25:1-6 … you have to understand the culture and history of the times – have to put it in the historical cultural perspective in which it was given. Also, having the spirit of prophecy – the Holy Spirit – to guide you is a must. I have tried to follow this advise much of my life and made a study of ancient Jewish life and culture so I could better understand the culture to which the Bible was given and understand it from the point of view in which it was given. This has even helped me understand the Book of Mormon as the Book of Mormon culture came from the Israelite culture.

Jacob 4:13-16 … the Jews of the time that Isaiah was writing were stubborn and looking beyond the mark, so the Lord gave them things hard to understand so they could “chew” on them
