PROPHETS
Prophets always foretell
something before the Lord does it - the Lord gives us that chance to react
and obey.

Amos 3:4-8
(Old Testament) |
|
Will a lion roar in the forest, when
he hath no prey?
will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken
nothing?
Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth,
where no gin is for him?
Shall one take up a snare from the earth,
and have taken nothing at all?
Shall a trumpet be blown in the city,
and the people not be afraid?
Shall there be evil in a city,
and the LORD hath not done it?
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing,
but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the
prophets.
The lion hath roared, who will not fear?
the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

2 Nephi 25:9-10: |

"And as one generation hath been destroyed among the Jews because of
iniquity, even so have they been destroyed from generation to
generation according to their iniquities; and never hath any of them
been destroyed save it were foretold them by the prophets of the
Lord.
"Wherefore, it hath been told them concerning the
destruction which should come upon them, immediately after my father
left Jerusalem; nevertheless, they hardened their hearts; and
according to my prophecy they have been destroyed, save it be those
which are carried away captive into Babylon."

3 Nephi 10:14-17: |

"And now, whoso readeth, let him understand; he that hath the
scriptures, let him search them, and see and behold if all these deaths
and destructions by fire, and by smoke, and by tempests, and by
whirlwinds, and by the opening of the earth to receive them, and all
these things are not unto the fulfilling of the prophecies of many of
the holy prophets.
"Behold, I say unto you, Yea, many have testified of
these things at the coming of Christ, and were slain because they
testified of these things.
"Yea, the prophet Zenos did testify of these things,
and also Zenock spake concerning these things, because they testified
particularly concerning us, who are the remnant of their seed.
"Behold, our father Jacob also testified concerning a
remnant of the seed of Joseph. And behold, are not we a remnant of the
seed of Joseph? And these things which testify of us, are they not
written upon the plates of brass which our father Lehi brought out of
Jerusalem?" |
