Deuteronomy 22:8: When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a
battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if
any man fall from thence.
In much of the Middle East, the roofs are all flat and are used for
outdoor living in times of good weather and when it is simply too hot to
be inside. This passage is an example of the type of
safety-consciousness that a homeowner should be aware of.
