Awake! for the Morning Is
Come

quoted here form the 1835 Kirtland Hymnal
1. Awake! for the morning
is come:
Rejoice in the Lord, and trust in his mercy,
And pray unto him, in meekness and love,
For knowledge and health, and all his good blessings,
To comfort and happify home.
2. O Lord, thou good
Shepherd and King -
We want, through the day, to feed in thy pastures,
And feast on thy bounteous goodness and grace:
O lead us along the banks of still waters,
To gladden our hearts and to sing.
3. Lord turn all our hearts
unto thee,
To walk in the paths of virtue and wisdom,
To live in the bonds of union and peace,
And glorify thee on earth as in heaven:
O keep us unspotted and free!
4. O thou art the staff and
the rod,
On which we can lean in ev'ry condition;
In youth and in age, or valley of death,
For raiment and food, for joy and for comfort:
So praise ye the Lord, who is God.
